Nanook Cools (b. 1994) is individualistic, colourful, a little chaotic, and endlessly curious. Fashion has been her playground for several years now. She studied at the Academie of Sint-Niklaas.

In 2022, she won the LolaLiza Fashion Contest, with her design being produced and sold across Belgium. This gave her a first glimpse into the commercial fashion world and sparked her growing interest in prêt-à-porter. A few years later, she became a finalist at the Bilbao International Art & Fashion Contest and was nominated as Most Promising Graduate at the Belgian Fashion Awards with a collection made from medical waste, inspired by her experience of living with type 1 diabetes.

Alongside her own projects, Nanook has established herself as a costume designer for productions including Scala Choir, Douglas, and Tomorrowland. In 2024, she organised her first pop-up in Antwerp, which marked the beginning of developing her prêt-à-porter brand. Soon after, she was selected for Flanders DC’s Mentor Track programme to further build on this trajectory. In 2025, she earned a spot on Flanders DC’s 20 to Watch list.

Her style stands out through its clashing colours, striking prints, cartoon-like characters, and humour with a message. Always rooted in personal stories, Nanook’s work transforms fear, illness, and chaos into designs that dance with the absurd while celebrating imperfection and creativity.
